Conducted ENTIRELY ONLINE through video conferencing (Skype), this workshop will take you from a blank page to a short set in just 5 weeks. You will learn how to find your material and your point of view; how to craft clever, well-written jokes for the comedy stage; how to deal with hecklers; how to market yourself and other insightful advice from a professional comic The New England Blade called, “One of the premiere comedians in the country.”
Each student will also get a 30 minute private session via phone or video if desired.
The video conferencing format enables each student to visually interact with everyone else all from the privacy of their own home. The final week of class will have both instruction and a “mock stand up show” with online performances by all the students.
You can only learn how to do stand up by…well, doing stand up. But, you need good material to perform. And, that’s where these writing workshops come in. In just 5 weeks you will have a set about which you can be confident to take to the stage and start (or advance) your stand up career.
This course has also been extremely helpful for BUSINESS PROFESSIONALS. The basic comedy rules apply and I show you how to use them to make your corporate presentations engaging and memorable. Finding your own comedic voice will make you a unique and popular speaker.
